A camp run by people who live here.
Built on the Banks, for the Banks. DEBUG-1778301950660
OBX Summer Camps started in Corolla because we kept hearing the same thing from visiting families: the kids needed somewhere to be that wasn't another rainy-day arcade or a screen. The camp filled up fast, and Nags Head families started asking for their own.
So here we are. Same curriculum, same standards, same counselors cycling between locations. New beach, new families. The same great OBX Summer Camps experience.
We don't entertain kids. We introduce them to the place they're standing in.
Camp isn't a babysitting service that happens to be near the beach. It's a real curriculum about a real coastline, taught by people who know where the wild horses sleep and which dunes the loggerheads nest in.
Phones stay in bags. Kids look up. Counselors point at things and explain why they matter. Sometimes that's a heron, sometimes that's why you don't pick up sand dollars that are still alive.
By the end of a week, your camper knows more about barrier-island ecology than most adults visiting the Outer Banks. By the end of the season, they've earned a Junior Coastal Keepers patch and won't shut up about it.
Meet the family behind the camps.
We're the Ruths — Matt, Beth, Henry, Grace, Tommy, and Violet — and we landed in Corolla three summers ago. We fell in love with everything about it: the wild horses, the sunrises, the bike paths, and the easy way the community welcomes new families.
Our summers turned into sandcastle-building, nature-trail walking, kayak-paddling, ghost-crab-hunting affairs. We watched our kids meet new friends every week and decided we wanted to create something lasting — something that gave more kids a chance to do the same.
OBX Summer Camps is what we built. A place where kids can run wild (in the best way), make lifelong memories, and feel right at home. We share Henry's treasure hunts, Grace's dance parties, Tommy's humor, and Violet's energy. We hope your kids leave camp salty, sandy, sun-kissed, and smiling — with new friends and unforgettable stories.
